Does True Random Exist?
Random only exists where something is unknown.
Does that mean everything is actually deterministic?
Life is deterministic if everything can be known or predicted.
Shit then does free will exist?
We can predict the future.
Does that mean we could create a Universe within a Universe?
Are we in a Universe within a Universe?
Everything I do is predetermined.
God is only a concept of an unknown.
Can everything be known?
As long as there are unknowns then random exists.
Will we find all of the unknowns?
Will that make us g...

Trello is Expensive on the Client side
I was curious about the energy impact of Trello on the client side, so I did some profiling (of course compared against my product) and I'm amazed that it takes so much energy. Most of the heavy lifting is done on the server side, so wtf? I'm not going to do any digging around on the account I don't have a Trello account anymore.

Credit Karma's Savings Account Doesn't Let You Change The One Linked External Account
Summary: Don't open a CK savings account.
Never seen any savings offering that let you link only one account and doesn't let you change it for that matter. Second, you never see the account number nor the routing number associated with it, so you cannot pull money away. Last 4 digits aren't exactly helpful.
Several people, including me, got into a bind where the linked account has been closed, so you effectively lose a way to withdraw or deposit into the CK account. What's the point of the offering if you can...

"Crazy" Ideas
https://juliagalef.com/2017/04/07/does-irrationality-fuel-innovation/
"I also like the strategy of temporarily suspending your disbelief and throwing yourself headlong into something for a while, allowing your emotional state to be as if you were 100% confident."
What is rationality anyway? Being able to reason? "Crazy" ideas are not reasonable. It is the only reason why ideas are crazy to you and not others. You don't know if the idea will work. You don't even suspend disbelief that it will work.
I know tha...

For me, Imposter Syndrome does not exist
Every time I see one of these imposter syndrome posts, I cannot relate.
Imposter Syndrome doesn't exist for me. Never has, never will.
It is a fallacy to think you have to be an expert to create things. It is a fallacy to compare yourself against others who may not spend as much time but get the details faster.
I don't focus on these details of life. I only care for the result and how to make things easier for myself next time I have to do something. If I don't get something, either try harder or leave it to a...

Goodbye Trello, I Deleted My Account
It is/was a great product. It is so simple to use. It is nothing like JIRA. It has so much potential to be a much better than JIRA product.
I just liked being able to create a card in Trello quickly. I liked dragging the cards to update the status or change the ordering. I liked being able to tag the cards and put a color on the tag. I never liked the sprint system in Agile at least the way I've been introduced to it and Trello could not be used that way which is great. I liked the experience, but it felt...

My Learnings about DAWGs or Directed Word Acylic Graphs
When I begun with the goal of looking for a better way to compress a string in real time in memory while gaining fast query capabilities, I had a Rust Generalized Suffix Tree built naively on top of a C Library called LibART (Adaptive Radix Tree). It gave me super fast prefix, suffix and contains like no other would believe. At the expensive of memory.
For example, a pathological case of 300k 128 Alphanumeric strings would take 6GB. If you do the calculation based on unicode, you'll see it doesn't take much ...

Obessed with Making a GST Memory Efficient: End of the Road
Update: Found several bugs in my Typescript and Rust implementation that looks to invalidate the results here. Either I stumbled into a way to construct a minimized graph that can find what I want or what. Only found it after I implemented a traverser with backwards lookup. Might as well use a Finite State Transducer Index as far as I can see. I'm going to keep looking into this since it is a radix and suffix tree.
- One of the bugs is related to my misreading of the paper. One should not use same terminator...

Obessed with Making a Generalized Suffix Index/Tree Memory Efficient Part 3
Part 2: https://www.normansoven.com/post/obessed-with-making-a-generalized-suffix-indextree-memory-efficient-part-2
I am so obessed that I threw away the Suffix Index and pursued its successor, the DAWG. Well, the compact version anyway: CDAWG!
Note: DAWG is a Directed Acyclic Word Graph also called a Minimal Acyclic Finite State Automaton (MAFSA) or Minimal Acyclic Deterministic Finite Automaton (MADFA). CDAWG means Compact Directed Acyclic Word Graph.
Story
Oh man, I cannot believe my eyes when I saw the resu...

Merged Trie Experiment
I read parts of an interesting paper called MergedTrie Efficient textual indexing. Paper and code is here: https://github.com/AntonioFerrandez/MergedTrie
I wanted to figure out if there was a way to decrease the amount of memory (approximately in half) for a Suffix In...
