VR Puking or Sickness, I can understand
I've never puked or had sickness, but have definitely felt queasy when things felt off.
I downloaded a drum game demo for PS VR2 and I guess because it is buggy, it put me almost below the floor which felt really weird. I think that would make people feel sick. I ended up restarting the game because there was no other way to fix that. The positioning was weird, but some adjustment can make it somewhat comfortable. It was a fun game.
With PS VR1, I played Ace Combat and felt fine. I guess since I like playing ...

Black Conservatism Isn't Particularly Defined outside of Conservatism
Even reading a Wikipedia page on it isn't particularly helpful. I don't think it particularly exists or is differentiated from conservatism in general. This term was thrown around as for being excluded from AP Black History course, which there isn't any significant history around it.
Are slaves considered to be black conservatives and slave rebels black radicals just because the slaves didn't do anything radical and obeyed their side of a contract? There isn't much to learn from people who put their head dow...

PS VR2 is a Great 4K Monitor. Cheap price too.
Great piece of technology. $550 for a 4k Monitor with eye tracking, haptic feedback, 3d audio earphones and 2 wireless controllers (technically one whole controller).
As long as you can use the VR headset for non-vr games, it is a monitor.
It's a value buy, not expensive as it could be though, which is good for consumers.
Zombieland is an easy fun casual arcade-like VR game.
Swordsman VR is fun and a slight workout, but repetitive.
Gran Turismo 7 VR mode was immersive, but not too compelling to make VR a must bu...

Is Using ChatGPT Cheating or a Productivity Boost?
Reading articles from professors who want to find who is using ChatGPT and education departments who ban ChatGPT from the environments they have authority would make one think using AI is a cheat and is bad for learning. I don't think so.
If I can use AI to do the work that you are giving me then it means your work is fuuuuuuuucking boring and drudgery. The work you are giving is not thoughtful for students and it is so bad that AI can give generate reasonably acceptable work or even drafts for students to w...

MacOS .pkg Installer "Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=110"
Apparently, "Installer" software can fail repeatedly, for no apparent reason, because it doesn't have "full disk access" permission, so you'll have to go to System Utilities > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access and turn on the one for "Installer"
Insane that it even needs permission, wow.
Ugh.

ChatGPT is Super Useful For Explaining Exotic Derivatives Like CDS and CEBO
As part of a game I will release, I will offer Credit Default Swaps (CDS) and Credit Event Binary Options (CEBO). These are topics that are obscure since they are unwieldy financial tools to deal with investment risk. Collectively, massive risk can be incurred and an industry can be taken down sic 2008 financial crisis.
If you watched "The Big Short" then you are familiar with the term Credit Default Swaps, but have no clue how they work. Simplified in the movie, it is a way for you to short debt obligations...

Only Naive People Believe a Meritocracy Exists
Oh Meritocracy! What cup are you under? Is it in "big tech" or "big pharma"? How about "big finance" and government?
It's funny when I see people talking about they only believe in Meritocracy in regards to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) related efforts. It's basically the "ALL LIVES MATTER" deaf and blindness garbage to "BLACK LIVES MATTER".
Why wouldn't any particular company or group extol the virtues of Meritocracy? It sounds wholly idealistic, a UPTOPIA! If I'm a recruiter looking to make myself stan...

Be Flexible With The Repository and DAO Patterns
I've used these patterns for years now in software I make depending on complexity of the software. They are used to abstract access to external data services including MySQL, RocksDB, ElasticSearch and etc.
A DAO object abstracts the specific database access and includes CRUD methods. A Repository represents a collection of data objects an amalgamation of DAOs essentially.
Think about it, if you had User Account information, you could store it into a K/V db while indexing the information in a search database ...

When You Don't Know Something, Look It Up
This is something that should be ingrained and drilled into every child from the start. When they learned enough to read, it is time to get them up to speed on looking up materials.
Sure, school should do this, but most teachers don't care. The motivation for most teachers is to get the student to the minimum of passing a knowledge test. For obvious reasons involving their livelihood and size of their classes, students are on their own for extended learning. It's inspiring for some teachers to see at least o...

Skip Articles That Use Words Like Performant
I have a strong opinion about stupid marketing words. If you use imaginary words, I skip your article, software or whatever. Definitely will make sure to replace your software for adding vague words.
Do better, be clear and use "high performance" or "average performance"
Written in 2023 and now its 2024. Still skipping articles that use PERFORMANT as a word. I just tune out knowing the article is just marketing drivel.
