VERSION 4 of Norman's Oven is HERE!

It's been a while since I last updated this site (No more Leptos). I updated the API and internal management site as well. API and mgmt were still using node.js, until now! Now, we are all rust powered using Snapfire, XWM, HTMX, Actix Web and Tera 2. AI played a big part in why this worked so well and how the data transfer was so easy and fast.

Personally, I've never would've bothered with anything of this, but the advent of AI made me very ambitious. Snapfire and Snapfire Compiler helped massively. XWM handles all the vendoring of ESM javascript and css, yes XWM is my own packaging and registry for browser only modules. It couldn't have been done without Snapfire Compiler and that compiler couldn't have been done without AI. I plan to use SnapFire, Snapfire Compiler and XWM for every web project.

I moved away from Node.JS in general because of the bloat. Rust applications compile down to 30MB. NodeJS at least 300MB+. It doesn't make sense to use NodeJS for small servers. I have no plans to run Javascript on the backend anymore, it's all Rust now, no baggage, no bloat, no bundling. It's awesome to be out of NPM ecosystem entirely.

The blog is back to fully server side rendered like it was during the Wordpress days. We've come full circle. Snapfire brings together Actix and Tera 2 for fast development and quick feedback for changing things. It's awesome, just awesome.

I've been working on a AI project in the meantime as well as Roast of the Republic. Roast of the Republic uses Plaza for multiplayer. Actually the AI Project uses Plaza too for multiplayer 😏! Plaza is just that damn versatile while maintaining high high HIGH performance. Plaza has 30+ examples, from CLI to 3D games, it's quite nuts what you can build with it!

I also deleted my MySQL/Redis server, this blog is backed by RocksDB through Rocksolid..
