"Being a retired police officer, I don’t think you’ll be going to jail. Okay?"

Words from The Onion right? No, these words were seriously spoken from an active Las Vegas Police Officer. They wonder why they are losing trust and garnering more negative sentiment. It ain't politics nor the current environment causing that, it's you.

Robert F. Gutierrez, of Las Vegas, is charged with one count of assault on a federal officer resulting in bodily injury following a Dec. 3 incident outside Gutierrez’s home in Las Vegas. Gutierrez is accused of punching the mail carrier multiple times, causing the man to lose consciousness at one point, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court Dec. 5.

Imagine assaulting a person, you'd go to jail. Imagine that person being a federal employee, they'll rough you up a bit and put you in jail. Imagine that person being an officer, they'd make sure to rape you and throw you in a cell with no food or water. NNNNAUUUGGGGHHHH, but this is different. It's a RETIRED policer officer punching an federal employee. That said, if it were not a federal employee they'd do shit. Trust police to help you? Hahahaha, only if you are lucky.
